What a busy weekend we had! And for once, it wasn’t jam packed with sessions – but filled with time at home. Since our new little man will be making his debut this summer, we needed to move our son Luke into his big boy room. This probably wouldn’t have been such a big task if the room we were going to use wasn’t packed from floor to ceiling with misc furniture, guitars, baby toys, baby gear, art supplies and probably anything else one could imagine. It did double as our guest room before, but we got rid of the queen bed, desk & other furniture last month. So on Friday afternoon, Luke got to go spend the night with his Grammy & Grampa while mommy and daddy worked on the big surprise. He had no idea we were doing it!
This is what we started with – and don’t judge me for this. The rest of my house is clean & orderly, I promise!! Here you will see a bunch of boxes of furniture needing to be built and a ton of stuff that we had to find a new place for. We even had the help from our two fur babies *ahem*. I do use the word “help” very loosely here. 😉
After a very late night on Friday and a full day of work on Saturday – here is the end result!
This is how it looks when you walk into the room from the hallway. Def beats that big pile o’ boxes we had before!
He likes Disney characters a *little*.
We found these awesome light switch extenders that work for our decora style light switches from One Step Ahead. They are perfect for Luke being able to turn on his own light! And his room wouldn’t be complete without the painting his great uncle found in New Orleans – “I would like some tasty alligator pie.”
These adorable sheets and the comforter are from Pottery Barn Kids. We also picked up a car set from there for when these are in the wash!
My husband’s grandmother is an AMAZING artist and painted this jungle painting for Luke’s old room. If you look closely you can even see Luke, our dog Allie and our cat Tucker in it!
Needless to say, Luke was super excited about the surprise! He decided to throw all of his animals off the bed when he first jumped up there, but quickly changed his mind. Night number one and two were a complete success (big relief for me!). Isn’t it crazy the things you do for your kids?! But I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂 I simply love him to pieces!
ChristyAwww! He looks SO excited! haha 🙂 Love it!!!
LishThat is awesome Krystal! I’m sure he will continue love his “big boy” room!
