Today marks 6 years since I first met my sweet son Luke & my life was forever changed in the best way possible. Luke is such a kind, tender-hearted boy. He is definitely a momma’s boy and has a lot of love to give. It is amazing being his mommy and I’m so grateful to have such an amazing kid! He is growing so fast. In just a few short weeks, he will start kindergarten (insert lots of tears from me). We are enjoying the last few weeks before he starts this new adventure in his life. Luke makes me so proud. He is polite, caring, silly, gracious, lovable, athletic, honest, friendly, smart, dedicated and sincere. Luke, my sweet, sweet Luke – I love you big time!
Luke decided he wanted to have a Minecraft birthday party this year. Of course you can’t really find any decorations pre-made anywhere, so it was up to Luke & me to come up with some grand ideas for his party! Luke had a fun time coming up with ideas for his Minecraft themed candy bar. We hosted a swim party for him & his friend’s at Emler Swim School. They had SO much fun and it was great not having a huge mess to clean up. We also hosted a small family party so his grandparents could actually have time with him. Several have already asked what many of the things were at his party, so I’m going to insert comments every now & then with what I used/where I found items. Here’s a little peek into his six year session and his Minecraft birthday party!
With the help of my mom, we made this banner for his party! I found the Minecraft font online & then designed a creeper face in Photoshop.
Drinks for the adults, “Creeper Juice” (aka Hi-C) for the kids, easy Minecraft spider decorations & pin the tail on the Minecraft pig!
The candy bar was a HUGE hit at both parties. I love how the Enderman goodie bags turned out. The TNT and torches were a serious labor of love, but they really did turn out great (and the kids thought they were SO cool).
I designed bookmarks in Photoshop & ordered them through my lab. Super easy & great addition to the goodie bag “Crafting Table”.
Another labor of love were these homemade gummy candies. I found a recipe online and used a silicone baking sheet to make these.
“Sand” and “Grass Block” cupcakes were served at his swim party. I made these by hand using a brownie pan and a cake leveler.
None of the bakeries had Minecraft cakes available, so I had the idea to order a plain green cake and add Ghirardelli dark chocolate to the top to make a creeper face! Since the chocolate is cut in squares, it’s the perfect ratio to make the face.
There was definitely a lot of prep that went into his party, but seeing his face as it all came together was more than worth it! If you have any questions about any of the decorations or items seen above, please feel free to ask! I love sharing ideas.
